  • Know who you are

You don’t really know who you are until you find out who your parents were.

Where you were born was dictated by choices your parents made. Where they were born was dictated by the choices their parents made. They are not just names and dates and places, they are a part of you.

  • Long Lost Family Show

Nothing can get more “real” than finding lost members of your family, and the Long Lost Family show out of the UK does exactly that. They are a part of a growing genre of shows of the ultimate reality, Family History. You can’t get much more real than that.

The Long Lost Family show helps those searching for relationships which are difficult to find. Many of the participants have been adopted and some of those they are seeking are no longer living in the same country.

But nothing so deeply affects people as to find members of the family they never knew and didn’t know if they’d find in time. Many have felt a part of themselves missing for decades.

  • Why seek?

There are many reasons people want to know who they are related to. They may have a deep yearning to find members of their family missing from their lives for long periods of time. Some are coming to end of life situations due to health or old age. Some desire the love they felt they were deprived of. And others are finally in a position where they can afford to take the time and expense to solve the puzzle that has been haunting them for decades. Just to know who their parents or brothers and sisters were and to be accepted by them, is not a small thing, it is huge.

  • How it works

The show, Long Lost Family, helps solve family lineage problems when people have a deep desire to know who they are related to, but have run into dead ends. They take the clues given them by the client and start searching for the relative of interest, many times a missing Father or Mother.

If the relative is found, they contact the relative and get a feel for the situation. For example, if a parent had to give up a child to adoption, they are contacted and shown information and pictures from the client.

If all goes well and there is a desire to meet, the client is contacted and a meeting is arranged. Each episode includes two different searches for two different families.

  • How to search

The Long Lost Family show uses Genealogical tools to help find the lost relative, including, but not limited to: Adoption records, Birth, Marriage, and Death records, and DNA tests. They also reach out to specialists in particular geographic areas to help assist in the search. If successful, they include the client on the show.

  • Deep Connections

Watching the show makes you realize how lucky you are if you do not have missing family members, and how lucky those are that find them. As family members are reunited, missing pieces of their lives are filled and they come to know things about themselves they never knew. The sense of belonging they’ve been missing for decades has finally been filled and many of the relationships finally connected are continued for many years afterward.
